Ryan Regis Roe
Master Chief Cryptologic Technician Interpretive, USN, Retired
Master Chief Ryan Regis Roe is a Southern California native. He graduated High School in 1994 and joined the Navy in October 1995 attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL.
Originally trained as a Builder in the Seabees in Gulfport, MS, Master Chief Roe reported in June 1996 to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five, and made deployments to Okinawa, Puerto Rico, Vieques, the Azores Islands, Hawaii, and Cuba. He served as Supply Petty Officer, Crew Leader, Project Supervisor, and Patrol Leader during four seven-month deployments. He also qualified in Seabee Combat Warfare and as a Detachment Safety Officer. In 2000, he transferred to Naval Security Group Activity Kunia in Hawaii, as the Lead Builder assigned to a base of over 2,500. During this tour, he decided to cross-rate to Cryptologic Technician Interpretive and study Arabic at The Defense Language Institute.
In July of 2004 after graduating number one in his class from the basic and advanced Arabic courses in Monterey, California, Master Chief Roe reported to Naval Security Group Activity, Fort Gordon, Georgia for duty as a Subsurface Cryptologic Direct Support Element Basic Operator. He embarked on USS SAN JUAN (SSN-751) and quickly qualified as a Direct Support Element Supervisor. Master Chief Roe supervised 19 missions on nine deployments onboard USS SAN JUAN (SSN-751), USS TOLEDO (SSN-769), USS MEMPHIS (SSN-691), USS ALEXANDRIA (USS-757), USS DALLAS (SSN-700), USS BOISE (SSN-764), and USS ANNAPOLIS (USS-760) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, SEA DRAGON III, and the Global War on Terrorism.
In 2007 while serving as the Submarine Division’s Leading Petty Officer, Master Chief Roe was selected as the Naval Network Warfare Command Senior Sea Sailor Of the Year and was later selected to Chief Petty Officer.
In 2013, Master Chief Roe deployed to Afghanistan for duty as the Language Analysis Cell Senior Enlisted Leader. He was selected to Senior Chief in 2014 and has held multiple technical and leadership positions including Intelligence Department Chief, Facilities and Logistics Department Chief, Training and Readiness Department Chief, Counter-Terrorism Lead Linguist, Submarine Direct Support Department Chief, Assistant Senior Watch Officer, Selection Board Member, and Senior Language Advisor, where he led NIOC Georgia to the Department Of Defense Language Program of the Year and multiple Navy Language Program of the Year awards.
Master Chief Roe’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4), the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He Speaks eight languages, holds an Associate’s Degree in Arabic, a Bachelor of Science Degree, is pursuing his Master’s Degree, and his Professional Golf Association Member Certification.

He is married to the former Charity Mongan. They have Six children: Corbin (22), Richie (22), Bella (19), Emily (19), Audrey (11), and Brooklyn (8).
